As part of its missions CRRC is committed to working with local experts to develop its methodology and design for its surveys. With international oversight, the following people were involved in the 2009 DI Project.

Caucasus Barometer Project Coordinator
Tinatin Zurabishvili

Dr. Tinatin Zurabishvili is the Project Coordinator for the CRRC Caucasus Barometer. Since 1999, she has taught B.A. and M.A. courses in sociology, focusing on research methods, at Telavi State University and Tbilisi State University Center for Social Sciences, where she was a Civic Education Project (CEP) Local Faculty Fellow (2001-2003) and Academic Fellowship Program Returning Scholar (2005-2006). In the spring semesters between 2004 and 2007 she was an OSI Faculty Development Fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles in the Department of Sociology. Her academic publications focus on social research methods, sociology of transition and sociology of the media.

Prior to teaching in Georgia, between1999 and 2001 Dr. Zurabishvili served as junior researcher for Yale University's project, Poverty, Ethnicity and Gender in Eastern Europe during the Market Transition. Dr. Zurabishvili also worked for five years as a sociologist at the Russian Center for Public Opinion and Market Research (now the Levada Center), where she worked on the Russian Public Opinion Monitor. Dr. Zurabishvili holds her Ph.D. in the sociology of journalism from Moscow M. Lomonosov State University (1999).

Sampling and Weighting
Lucy Flynn

Lucy Flynn earned her B.S. and M.S. at the University of Washington School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences. She has worked as a research scientist, most recently modeling the population dynamics of steelhead trout for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. She has worked as a statistical consultant, most recently calculating in-season run size forecasts for the Bristol Bay sockeye salmon fishery. She has also taught a wide variety of subjects including fishery management, computer programming, and English.

After completing her M.S. Lucy spent a year in Azerbaijan as a Fulbright scholar. She is fascinated with the Caucasus, and has spent a great deal of time traveling throughout the region. She is currently interested in applying her statistical and modeling skills to regional social science problems.

Data Archiving
Temur Paksashvili

Temur Paksashvili is the DI 2008 Data Archiving expert. He graduated from Tbilisi State University Department of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics in 2003. Currently, he works for the State Department for Statistics of Georgia in Tbilisi, and is involved in household surveys conducted by the Department. In addition, he has administered databases for the World Bank, UNICEF, UNDP and other international projects.

NOTE: The CRRC's annual Data Initiative survey was renamed into Caucasus Barometer starting from 2010.
