Orientation training on “Social Networking Sites as Academic and Career Development Tool"

Orientation training on “Social Networking Sites as Academic and Career Development Tool” is organized. Presenters are Veronica Grigoryan and Rouben Chebelyan. The event is aimed to show how to use the benefits of social networking sites in order to get information concerning the research of interest and communicate, as well as use for career development.

The training is addressed to all interested in the topic.

General overview:

Most of social networking sites are used by teenagers to communicate, share photos or ideas. Nevertheless, social networking sites are not only “leisure activities.” They are fast and cheap way of sharing thoughts and views with people with same interests for researchers and scientists as well. Many companies use social networking sites to find qualified employees, while job seekers are posting their resumes and establish connections through their personal profiles. The number of social networking sites is increasing rapidly and it becomes more and more complicated to find the right ones. They may be time consuming and overwhelming. The question is how to find the right social networking site and how to use is more effectively for research and career.

Presenter's short bio:

Veronika Grigoryan has a Master’s Degree in Political Science and International Affairs from American University of Armenia and Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Yerevan State University and joined CRRC-Armenia in June 2010 as Librarian/Information Specialist. Rouben Chelebyan graduated State Engineering University of Armenia Cybernetics Department in 1999, joined CRRC-Armenia as IT Manager in July 2010.
