conducted by Dr. Kerry Longhurst, Jean Monnet Professor, Collegium Civitas

Language:        English

Overview: The Eastern Partnership (EaP) was established in 2009 as a means to draw the six closest neighbours of the EU closer to its orbit via a sophisticated matrix of political and economic agreements and opportunities. The lecture will take 2017 as a vantage point to consider the accomplishments of the EaP over the past eight years and also to identify the hurdles and uncertainties residing at EU, regional and domestic levels that have served as hindrances and roadblocks along the way. Focus in the presentation will be placed on questions relating to the actual ‘implementation’ of the EaP and whether EU policies are really capable of (or are even geared to) bringing about long term and sustainable change and development in those states that aspire to some form of ‘European future’.
