“Seven Minutes” Policy Briefs

The nationally representative Caucasus Barometer (CB) survey provides valuable data for assessing the performance of institutions in Armenia. Public trust is measured using a five-point scale. The 2024 findings show the following:

  • According to the 2024 data, 40% of respondents do not trust the education system, and this level of distrust has been increasing since 2019.
  • According to the 2024 data, 49% of respondents do not trust the media. Distrust, which had been gradually increasing since 2012, rose sharply after 2019, reaching 69% in 2021, before declining to 49% in 2024.
  • Only 12% of respondents expressed distrust toward the Church, while 79% reported trusting the institution. Trust remained relatively stable between 2011 and 2019, fluctuating between 75% and 80%, then declined sharply in 2021 to 34%, before rising again to 79% in 2024.

In these publications, we take a closer look at who trusts and distrusts these institutions, and at the socio-economic and demographic groups in which trust and distrust are most strongly concentrated.
