{"id":2363,"date":"2008-03-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-03-29T09:31:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/crrc.am\/blog\/understanding-and-reporting-labor-market-data\/"},"modified":"2025-11-07T10:40:20","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T06:40:20","slug":"understanding-and-reporting-labor-market-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crrc.am\/en\/blog\/understanding-and-reporting-labor-market-data\/","title":{"rendered":"Understanding and Reporting Labor Market Data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- VideographyWP Plugin Message: Automatic video embedding prevented by plugin options. --><\/p>\n<div>On March 19-20, 2008 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.irex.am\/eng\/programs\/media\/index.php\">IREX&#8217;s Core Media Support Program<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spss.am\/\">USAID Armenia&#8217;s Social Protection Systems Strengthening Project<\/a>, in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/crrc.am\/\">CRRC-Armenia<\/a> organized a training for the journalists entitled &#8220;Understanding and Reporting Labor Market Data.&#8221; Thirteen journalists, mainly from the regions of Armenia were awarded certificates on the completion of the training.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_g4EVbT-7mQU\/R-jYI238xNI\/AAAAAAAAALE\/Sxx8offfOG0\/s1600-h\/DSC02782.jpg\"><\/a>The training included several presentations on Armenian and international (ILO) labor legislation, explanation of the key terms used in this sphere, official and unofficial statistics on the labor market, and a description of the sources of information on employment and unemployment in Armenia. The participants had a chance to gain hands-on skills for finding relevant information on the web, interpreting corresponding information and writing news articles. Among the presenters were Grigor Gyurjyan, Labor Economist, Hasmik Ghukasyan, Poverty Expert\/Statistician and Anna Hovhannisyan, Legislative Liaison Expert at USAID Armenia SPSS Project and Leah Kohlenberg, Media Consultant at IREX CMSPA.<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_g4EVbT-7mQU\/R-jYtm38xOI\/AAAAAAAAALM\/tRDO2PMP1Ng\/s1600-h\/DSC02785.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_g4EVbT-7mQU\/R-jYtm38xOI\/AAAAAAAAALM\/tRDO2PMP1Ng\/s320\/DSC02785.jpg\"><\/a>Within the two day training program, CRRC-Armenia Program Manager Arsen Aslanyan presented some findings on employment, unemployment and migration from CRRC&#8217;s Data Initiative survey, and explained how those data were gathered, analyzed and interpreted, drawing the attention of the audience on the peculiarities associated with interpreting survey data. Gohar Khachatryan conducted a presentation on the peculiarities of online information, Web 2.0 tools and the way they affect media.
